Import your own spreadsheet

If your club keeps its teams in a spreadsheet, or you have an export from another system, Sideline can read it. You check every row before anything loads.

Before you start

  • An owner must turn on the AI import. The page has a button, Turn it on.
  • Your file must be Excel (.xlsx) or .csv, and 2 MB or less.

Import a file

  1. On the Teams step of the checklist, select Upload a file.
  2. Choose your file.
  3. Select Read my spreadsheet.
  4. Check the result. Each row has a tick, or the problems to fix. A list shows the sheets and columns Sideline did not use.
  5. If a row has a problem, download the workbook with the problems marked. Fix it and upload it on the same page.
  6. When every tab is ready, select Set up my club.

Sideline loads all the rows or none. If you change your mind, you can undo the load.

What Sideline sends to the AI

Sideline sends only the sheet names, the column headings and a few sample rows. It takes out email addresses and phone numbers first. Sideline reads every value from your file itself, and does not keep the file.

Common questions

Can I import my players?

No. Parents register their own children, which is how consent works. Sideline does not send a sheet with dates of birth or parent columns.

Can I import officials or coaches?

Not yet. Invite officials from the Officials step, or use the workbook. See Set up your club from a workbook.

What if the import is not available?

The workbook and the other ways always work.
