Approve a coach on your phone

When a coach signs up with your club's coach sign-up link, they wait for you to check them. You can approve or decline them on your phone, and the coach gets an email either way.

Before you start

You need the Invite and look after club officials and their coach checks permission. When the coach chose a team, you also need Assign coaches to teams. When they chose a session, you also need Assign coaches to sessions. The club owner can give you these.

To open the club app from the full site, select App at the top of the screen.

Approve a coach

1. In the club app, select Inbox, then To do.
2. Select Coaches to approve. Each row shows the teams or sessions the coach chose, and their DBS and Safeguarding status: Valid, Runs out soon, Run out or Not on file.
3. Select the coach.
4. Check the checks, the details and what they want to coach.
5. Select Approve with the coach's name, for example Approve Aisha.

The list opens again. The coach is now an assistant coach of each team and session they chose, and gets an email.

Decline a coach

1. Select the coach in Coaches to approve.
2. Select Decline.
3. Read what a decline does, then select Decline with the coach's name.

The coach gets an email that says the club cannot take them on at the moment. The email gives no reason. To go back without declining, select Keep waiting.

Common questions

Can I approve a coach whose DBS check is not on file?

Yes. The screen shows a warning, but you can approve now and record the check later in the full site.

How do I make the coach the head coach?

Approve them first, then change their role on the team's staff page in the full site.

Why is a coach no longer on the list?

Another official approved or declined them already.

Can I do this in the full site?

Yes. In the full site, open Officials and select Check coaches. The rules and the emails are the same.
